Sit and Go Tactics: Playing AggressivelyIt is a fact that playing tightly is an integral Sit and Go strategy. However, the problem is that a lot of players take it too far. They employ this tactic for the duration of the tourney and end up losing. The fact is that playing tightly in Sit and Go is only good for a certain point. That point is the early stage. After that, you should open up a bit and be more loose. The reason is that everyone will be even tighter, because they know that they are nearer to being in the money. Your Sit and Go strategy would be adapt a more aggressive approach, as this is the perfect time to pick up some chips. Another common mistake is that players with short stacks in the middle stages opt for a Sit and Go strategy wherein they just fold and hope someone gets busted. That rarely works, however. The reason is that the fewer players are left, the quicker you will be on the blinds. What you should do if you are short on chips is to play more aggressively. Remember that in Sit and Go tourneys players tend to tighten up, so be aggressive. Go all in with decent hands. Not just AAs or AKs, but even A10s. A lot of players will simply not risk losing out when they are so close to the money. This way, you will be able to pick up several chips quickly and augment your stack. Depending on how depleted your stack is, a couple of aggressive plays will be all you will need to get yourself on even keel with the other Poker players on the table. The same Sit and Go strategy should be utilized when you have the large stack. There is no point in having the advantage if you will not use it. Punish your opponents with big raises. If they bet, raise the stakes so that they will be forced to go all in. As the leader of the pack, your objective would be to eliminate as many of the short stacks as possible. Playing aggressively in Sit and Go tourneys is something that is rarely employed, and one that you should use. It not only throws your opponents off track, but by being the aggressor you establish control of the table. This will aid you greatly in your goal of making the final phase. |
